Furniture that grows with your child—modular furniture for a child's room

Decorating a child's room is no easy task. Of course, you could go to the first store you come across that sells children's furniture, buy the whole set, and then, five years later, walk into that room and wonder why there are ladybugs, Mickey Mouse, or Paw Patrol characters everywhere..

When planning a room for a toddler, it's best to start with an overall concept for colors and furniture placement. What color scheme would you like to use in the room?? Will the room be shared with a sibling (are the siblings of the same gender, or is the room intended to meet the needs of both a girl and a boy)?? Later, once you have a basic design, it's a good idea to start looking for furniture.

I believe it’s better to buy something decent once and be done with it for a few or a dozen or so years than to replace furniture every two years because either it’s been chewed up too much, or it’s covered in Peppa Pig—and now Frozen—motifs, or the furniture is simply poor quality and, after two years of heavy use, is fit only as furnishings for a forest cabin.

Crib

In my opinion, the best option is a bed that grows with your child. Stokke has just such an option—the Sleepi crib. It will serve the little one right from the start—a baby can sleep in it from birth. The crib has no sharp edges; it's oval-shaped, and your little one will feel right at home in it. Plus, it has wheels—you can set it up in your bedroom or in your child's room. You can put your child to sleep in the bedroom and then quietly carry them to their own room. You can also bring your little one from his room to your bedroom at night if you suddenly decide you don't feel like walking across the entire house every quarter of an hour to check on a child who's decided to wake up every fifth breath.

As your little one grows, you can buy an extension for the crib—and use it until the child is as old as 10. And the best part is that the Stokke Sleepi crib stands out for its simple design—you can choose from several color options, and it’s so minimalist that it will fit into any space.

If you're a fan of Scandinavian design and want to own only 80 items in your life—40 of which you've already used to fill your makeup bag—you can buy a Stokke Sleepi crib and enjoy its simplicity. If you want to decorate them, you can hang a canopy, add cotton balls, or put colorful protectors on the rungs—whatever you like.

High Chair

A high chair is an item that will take up space in the dining room for several years. Would a plastic chair with a waxed canvas seat featuring pink fluffy teddy bears match the style of your dining room?? Exactly.

And here, once again, Stokke comes to the rescue with the Tripp Trapp high chair. This high chair is designed to be used by a child from birth—and later on, adults can use it as well!

You're probably wondering why a one-month-old baby needs a high chair when all they're interested in is milk anyway. Of course, a newborn isn't going to eat a pork chop in it, but you can put the baby in the high chair while you're cooking dinner and don't want to leave the baby alone. That way, your little one has a great vantage point, and you can keep an eye on him or her. The special Newborn Set insert allows your baby to use the high chair in a healthy position from the very first days.

After the Newborn Set comes the Bay Set—for children around 3 to 4 years old—and after that, the child can use the car seat without any inserts. Importantly, they can also be used as desk chairs, not just for eating!
