Launch of the 2019 Cybex Priam Stroller in the 2.0!
The Priam stroller, in its updated version set to hit the market in early 2019, is offered as a product from Cybex's top-of-the-line and most expensive premium line.. It features a new design for the carrycot and stroller seat, inspired by the rounded shapes and classic elegance of 1950s American bohemian style. The current design of the Cybex Priam stroller is a direct reference to the most famous work by the legendary couple of architects, artists, and industrial designers —the Lounge Chair and Ottoman, by Charles and Ray Eames, who have left an indelible mark on the history of modernism.
Let's look at the context. The 1950s served as a testing ground for the American and the already established German interpretations of modern design. The famous quote from the late 1940s by American architect Louis Sullivan, "Form Follows Function," marked a departure from the impractical design system of previous eras. The guiding principle and essence of modernism was the emphasis on functionality, practicality, and adapting furniture to human needs, as well as minimizing the use of materials required to meet these requirements. The German Bauhaus thus offered openwork, simple, minimalist designs that were intended simply to “function as well as possible.” This resulted in futuristic designs characterized by maximum simplicity, minimal use of materials, and a lack of ornamentation and embellishments; the form itself was meant to be decorative, but above all, functional—this encapsulates the philosophy of European modernism in interior architecture..
Unlike the European Bauhaus school of modernism, the Eameses approached design with a greater sense of humor. They wanted the objects they created to have not only a functional purpose but also a luxurious and spectacular form—which, in the context of modernist philosophy, was, contrary to appearances, a very difficult task. They had fun balancing on the line between simplicity and extravagance, collaborating to create a series of striking pieces of furniture that are currently experiencing yet another massive resurgence. People familiar with their work will see their most famous pieces every day on television, in catalogs, in offices, and in luxury apartments. Building on such a remarkable legacy, Cybex designers brought the Eameses’ philosophy to the world of children’s products, creating their most famous stroller—the Cybex Priam.
The Cybex Priam chassis will be available in three color options, each with handle and safety bar upholstery designed specifically for that color option. New, exclusive details are a delight to the eye and take the Cybex Priam series to an even higher level. Another new feature will be the so-called e-Priam frame, featuring rear-axle electric motor assist technology—borrowed from e-bikes. The Cybex Priam stroller will be available as standard in the following versions: infant carrier, infant carrier/stroller combo (2-in-1), stroller, as well as expandable combinations with a car seat (3-in-1) and with a car seat base (4-in-1)
A new color in the Cybex Priam frame collection will be the Rosegold Frame in a copper shade, combined with dark brown eco-leather accents. The Priam Matt Black Frame with black eco-leather remains a standard part of the collection.. In the current collection, the Cybex Priam Chrome Frame will be paired with Cognac-colored eco-leather. The frames will be mounted on All-Terrain wheels (all-terrain stroller) with spring-loaded suspension. Standard features of the Cybex Priam include one-handed folding, a safety bar that can be detached from either side, a spacious storage basket with a 5 kg capacity, swivel front wheels with a locking mechanism, and a telescopically adjustable handle height. The frame allows for partial folding and a switch to two-wheel mode on the rear axle with large wheels—a solution designed for rough, sandy terrain.
The redesigned Priam Lux Seat and the Priam Lux Carrycot will be available in five basic color options: Indigo Blue, True Red, Fancy Pink, Premium Black, and Manhattan Grey. The car will also be showcased in the most famous special editions. The new collection also features a new accessory—the Priam Little Cot cocoon sleeping bag.
The Lux Carrcot infant carrier in the new version of the Cybex Priam features a design clearly inspired by the curved wooden elements of the Lounge Chair's seat. A very large, deep, and spacious gondola with rounded shapes, directly reminiscent of a children's classic. A new feature is the very wide, panoramic ventilation panels at the rear of the stroller and the canopy, which allow for free airflow inside the stroller and, when appropriate, provide a better view for both the child and the parent. Changes were also made to the mounting of the handrail—it was moved to the structural components of the booth. The booth has been equipped with a new feature—an additional sunshade that extends from the inside. The interior of the gondola is lined with elegant, quilted fabrics made from 100% high-quality cotton.
The Lux Seat now features softer contours, new fabrics, leather accents, a stunning carbon-fiber seatbelt buckle, an XXL canopy with an additional removable sunshade panel, and redesigned details. A brand-new feature is the dedicated Cybex Priam Little Cot, a cocoon-style sleeping bag that attaches to the stroller seat. The Cybex Priam Lux Seat is a seat that reclines completely flat, allowing it to be used from birth. The Priam Little Cot Cocoon is the perfect accessory for fall and winter. It keeps the child's legs and body warm; it is designed for use from birth until the child reaches approximately 17 kg (around age 4), and can be installed on the seat whether it is fully reclined or raised. By default, the seat is mounted on both sides of the stroller frame, facing either forward or backward, at a height that allows the child to sit comfortably when the stroller is placed on a table.
