Rearward-facing principle

Doctors, car accident experts, and health and consumer organizations strongly recommend that children be transported in a car seat in a rear-facing position. Why? In developed countries, car accidents are the leading cause of death among children. According to studies and tests conducted in Germany and Sweden, when carrying toddlers in the rear-facing position, the risk of injury in a collision is significantly lower than when carrying them forward-facing.

In the construction of car seats, attention is particularly focused on the specific structure of a child's body and its development over time. Unlike an adult, a child's head is disproportionately larger and heavier than the rest of the whole, its weight is as much as 25% of the weight of the whole body, and the muscles of the neck and spine are still at the stage of development, so it is these parts of the body that require special protection during collisions in which the body is subjected to extreme physical conditions that threaten life.
